Sionnach Rua’s Great Irish Song Book celebrates Ireland’s rich and unique culture in a lively show, with a mix of Irish music from Planxty to Van Morrison to the Dubliners.
The brains behind Sionnach Rua is Irishman Gallie, who interweaves rich stories from his upbringing in Dublin, with tales of Irish traditions, Irish history, and songs, creating a celebration of Irish music, new and old. It culminates in a showcase of the finest and entertaining stories expressed in a way that will make you feel like you are part of a lively “session” in an Irish bar.
Joining Gallie will be a fine band of multi-instrumentalists, including Paddy Montgomery [Bouzouki, acoustic bass guitar, mandola], Ruth Wise [Fiddle] and Sam Davies [Uilleann Pipes]. They have delighted audiences with an authentic and lively celebration of Irish Traditional Music, exploring Irish song, tunes, stories, and airs.
Sionnach Rua [pronounced shun-ukh roo-a] is Gaelic, Ireland’s native language and translates in English to Red Fox. Sionnach Rua is known throughout Irish mythology and Celtic understanding as a skilful animal, so it is fitting that this Super-group share its name, given they are such skilful musicians and entertainers.
